The example of those who spend their wealth in the cause of Allah is that of a grain that sprouts into seven ears, each bearing one hundred grains. And Allah multiplies the reward even more to whoever He wills. For Allah is All-Bountiful, All-Knowing.

~ Quran 2:261.

From 1 to unlimited

Visual inspired by the verse above (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:261). It shows the journey from giving to growth to multiplied reward.

Step 1

You give 1

Your giving leaves your hand sincerely.

Step 2

1 becomes 7

The giving grows beyond what you expect.

Step 3

7 becomes 700 and more

Allah multiplies for whom He wills and can give even more.

Calculate your investment

Choose the calculator type first, then complete only the fields that apply. The calculator uses the 700x multiplier mentioned in Qur'an chapter 2 verse 261 as a reflection. The real return is with Allah and may come as barakah, protection, ease, forgiveness, reward in the Akhirah, and more.

How this works: Fill only the asset fields that apply to you. Empty fields are counted as zero. The calculator adds your zakatable assets, subtracts immediate liabilities, compares your net wealth with nisab, and estimates zakat due.
Choose Islamic year if your zakat cycle follows the Hijri calendar.
Select the nisab basis you want to use for this calculation.
Gold nisab value (approx.) Loading... Based on 87.48 grams of gold

Status: Fetching live gold, silver and currency values.

Use only if you want to override the live gold or silver nisab value.
Include cash, bank balances, and savings held for one zakat year.
Enter the current market value of zakatable gold and silver in your selected currency.
Enter the zakatable value of shares, funds, or investments. Ask a scholar if unsure.
Include trade goods, inventory, and business assets intended for sale.

Three reminders before you give

The Qur’an and Sunnah do not only tell us to give. They also teach us how to think about giving, what to protect in our hearts, and what kind of charity can keep benefiting us.

💚

Charity does not decrease wealth

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught that charity does not decrease wealth. What leaves your hand does not disappear. It is transferred to your record with Allah. (Sahih Muslim)

🎁

Give from what you love

Righteousness is connected to giving from what we love. Sometimes the real test is not giving what is extra, but giving what the heart is attached to. (Qur’an 3:92)

🌿
Sahih Muslim

Build ongoing reward

When a person dies, their deeds end except what continues: ongoing charity, beneficial knowledge, and a righteous child who prays for them. (Sahih Muslim)

Sadaqah Jariyah:
Some charity keeps working

Some charity is used once. Some charity keeps benefiting people after you forget about it, and even after you leave this world.

Think beyond one donation. Build lasting reward.

Sadaqah jariyah is about giving in a way that continues to benefit others. It can be a project, a tool, a resource, knowledge, or support that keeps creating good.

💧

Build something useful

Water projects, clinics, schools, mosques, Qur’an copies, community facilities, or anything that keeps helping people.

📚

Spread beneficial knowledge

Support classes, books, courses, reminders, tools, or educational work that helps people learn and act upon good.

🤲

Support people who make du’a

Support family, children, students, or people in need. A single act of help can become a source of du’a you never expected.

Protect the reward

Charity is not only about the amount. The Qur’an teaches us that intention, dignity, and behavior after giving matter deeply.

Before giving

  • Am I giving for Allah?
  • Is this from halal income?
  • Am I giving something with dignity?
  • Am I protecting the person receiving it?

After giving

  • Do not remind them of your favor.
  • Do not hurt them with your words.
  • Do not use charity to control people.
  • Do not show off unless there is a genuine benefit.

The example of those who spend their wealth in the cause of Allah is that of a grain that sprouts into seven ears, each bearing one hundred grains. And Allah multiplies the reward even more to whoever He wills. For Allah is All-Bountiful, All-Knowing. (Qur’an 2:261)

Those who spend their wealth in the cause of Allah and do not follow their charity with reminders of their generosity or hurtful words will get their reward from their Lord, and there will be no fear for them, nor will they grieve. (Qur’an 2:262)

Kind words and forgiveness are better than charity followed by injury. And Allah is Self-Sufficient, Most Forbearing. (Qur’an 2:263)

Believers are warned not to waste charity with reminders or hurtful words, like those who spend only to be seen by people. (Qur’an 2:264)

🗣️

Reminders of favor

Do not keep reminding people of what you gave them.

💔

Hurtful words

Do not give charity and then emotionally hurt the recipient.

👀

Showing off

Do not turn charity into a performance for people.

Allah has made interest fruitless and charity fruitful. And Allah does not like any ungrateful evildoer. (Qur’an 2:276)

They are those who donate in prosperity and adversity, control their anger, and pardon others. And Allah loves the good-doers. (Qur’an 3:134)

Indeed, those men and women who give in charity and lend to Allah a good loan will have it multiplied for them, and they will have an honourable reward. (Qur’an 57:18)

To give charity publicly is good, but to give to the poor privately is better for you, and will absolve you of your sins. And Allah is All-Aware of what you do. (Qur’an 2:271)

Where should I give?

Zakat has specific recipient categories. Sadaqah is broader. The section below helps separate the two so the user does not confuse them.

Zakat (mandatory charity)

  • Has specific rules andeligible recipients.
  • Based on the eight categories in the Glorious Qur’an (9:60).
  • For personal cases, confirm with a qualified scholar.

Sadaqah (voluntary charity)

  • Can be given more broadly.
  • Can support family, students, food, water, education, medical needs, and community causes.
  • Can also be non-monetary, like time, kindness, and beneficial help.

Who can receive zakat?

These categories are based on verse number 60 in the chapter "The Repentance (At-Tawbah)" in Qur'an (9:60).

Alms-tax is only for the poor and the needy, for those employed to administer it, for those whose hearts are attracted to the faith, for freeing slaves, for those in debt, for Allah’s cause, and for needy travellers. This is an obligation from Allah. And Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise. (Qur’an 9:60)

A du’a after giving

A simple reminder to ask Allah to accept the charity and protect the heart from showing off.

Du’a after giving

O Allah, accept it from me, purify my wealth, protect my heart from showing off, and make it sincerely for Your sake.
